Local Governments' Proposed Budgets

Thank you to the team of observers who have been delving into the expansive budget proposals in Outagamie County, City of Appleton, and Town of Grand Chute. The League is able to apply its well-researched positions to measure the impact of these local government expenditures. The documents are lengthy and complex. The review sessions are time consuming. Ultimately, the voice of the League is heard through formal statements, commending good policy and making suggestions for improvements.

Read the League's statement regarding the Outagamie County budget process.

Read the City Budget Statement delivered by Jan Quinlan on behalf of the League.

Linda Bjella was the only person to make a statement at the Town of Grand Chute budget hearing.

LWV of Wisconsin is hosting its annual Issues Briefings during November. The three sessions will explore what justice means for key populations in Wisconsin, including. Native/Indigenous peoples and lands, unfair judicial sentencing practices, and discriminative legislation targeting the LGBTTQIA+ community. There is no fee to register, and all are welcome.
