The League is nonpartisan, and neither supports nor opposes any candidates or political parties.

Candidate Forums

State Senate and Assembly District 1
LWV Door County and LWVWI will co-host a Candidate Forum for 4 candidates for State Assembly and Senate District 1. The forum is on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

The Assembly candidates are Joel Kitchens (R) and Renee Paplham (D).  The Senate candidates are Mark Becker (I) and Nic Cravillion (R). The seat has been held by Andre Jacques.

The public may submit questions at the forum or beforehand by emailing them to vsforums@lwvdoorcounty.org by October 11, 2026. Questions will be screened for redundancy and bias. Questions must be relevant to the position of Wisconsin State Legislator and also be addressed to all four candidates. League Forums are NOT debates. The forum will follow the League’s structured, nonpartisan format.

State Assembly District 56
Candidates for State Assembly District 56 (north/northwest) will meet for a forum on Wednesday, October 14 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Grand Chute Town Center Park. This will be recorded and and link posted afterwards. The candidates are Anthony Phillips (R) and Grace Abitz (D). 

Congressional District 8
LWV of Greater Green Bay will host a candidate forum for Congressional District 8 candidates Tony Wied (R-I) and Rick Crosson (D). Watch for details.

State Assembly District 2
LWV of Manitowoc County will host a candidate forum for State Assembly District 2 (Hwy 441 on the east to Fox River on the north, south of Combined Locks, but including half of Kaukauna; south boundary is Calumet County line; most is in Brown and Manitowoc Counties) on October 18. The candidates are Alicia Saunders (D) and Shae Sortwell (R-I). A recording of the forum will be shared after.

State Senate District 1
LWV Door County will host a candidate forum for State Senate District 1 on October 14. The candidates are Mark Becker (I) and Nic Cravillion (R). A recording of the forum will be shared after.

State Assembly District 5
There is not a candidate forum scheduled yet for State Assembly District 5 (Hwy 441 on the east to Fox River on the south, including half of Kaukauna, remainder in Brown County). The candidates are Joy Goeben (R), David Schupbach (G) and Justin Schumacher (D). Watch for any updates. 

State Assembly District 55 and State Senate District 19
LWV of Winnebago County, in anticipation that candidates in State Assembly District 55 (western portions of Appleton) and State Senate District 19 (north and western parts of Appleton) will not agree to a forum, will be offering interviews with candidates in both districts. The candidates for AD55 are Nate Gustafson (R) and Alex Corrigan (D); the candidates for SD19 (north and western parts of Appleton) are Rachael Cabral-Guevara (R-I) and Emily Tseffos (D). The interview with Emily Tseffos is posted on the website.

Implications of Proposed Anti-Equity Constitutional Amendment

Wisconsin voters will se an anti-equity constitutional amendment on the November 3, 2026, ballot that could have significant impacts on public education, employment, contracting, and government programs across the state.
 
While the ballot language references discrimination and preferential treatment, that proposed amendment would also limit the use of certain equity-focused policies and programs. Before you vote, take time to understand what's on your ballot, and how this amendment could affect Wisconsin communities.
