In September over 200 Fair Maps citizens advocated for Fair Maps during a Legislative Lobby Day. Our Senate District 19 boasted 29 advocates, the most of any WI Senate District. Leadership roles were taken by LWV-Appleton members. We advocated for a fair, transparent non-partisan process for drawing our voting districts.
In addition, some LWV-Appleton members submitted their maps to The People’s Maps Commission. These maps identified communities of interest for map builders and legislators. The People’s Maps were released in October 2021: Click Here to connect with The People’s Map Commission.
It is essential that all of us continue to pressure legislators who are resistant to Fair Maps. Attend rallies, write letters to the editor, continue to make calls and send emails to legislators. Continue to organize and build our ranks of volunteers to educate voters and mobilize them to take action with us. Our work to achieve fair representation has only just begun.
